Radioactive

So, this song has been playing way too much on the radio, but it’s addictive (until it inevitably becomes old and annoying). I love this fucking song right now.

Hahaha, this video is pretty great, too.

Radioactive – Imagine Dragons

I’m waking up to ash and dust

I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust

I’m breathing in the chemicals

I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus

This is it, the apocalypse

Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my systems blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes

It’s a revolution, I suppose

We’re painted red to fit right in

Whoa

I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus

This is it, the apocalypse

Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my systems blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn’t died

Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my systems blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

Matches to Paper Dolls

Okay, so someone made a Mad Queen fanvid to this song and this song is amazing and it’s totally a Mad Queen song now and it’s perfect and here it is:

Matches to Paper Dolls – Dessa

I changed the locks

But your key, your key’s still working

You can’t train a moth, I guess

Oh, each beast gets her burden

So we circle this old flame

Too much at stake but too late to change

My nerves are shot, my reserves exhausted

It’s a tired plot but we bought it

Now we’re lost

Between love and cholera

Saccharine read, such a sentimental novel

Give you cavities if it doesn’t drive you to the bottle

As for me, I’ll take another kerosene if you got it

Something harder, look, like a moth you see

And I still get chills when you talk to me

But the years pass by now in two’s and three’s

These thrills ain’t as cheap as they used to be

If you’re asking

I can’t say no

Just one more chapter

Our book won’t close

And I know it’s madness

To play these odds

It’s like giving matches

To paper, to paper dolls

I know it’s madness

I know

I know it’s madness

I know

I know it’s mad

Oh, tried sweet talk, tried dynamite

But I sleepwalk back to the battle site

Fight fire with fire but the fire won’t fight

We just fly these circles like tired kites

And you flash some fang

And I bat my lashes

And we’re back again

No end to this game with matches

We’ve been lovers and strangers and friends who get angry

Made mistakes and amends and brief moments of magic

We forgive and forget and give in to attraction

This whole thing depends on amnesia and madness

And I’d be leaving for good, I’d be looking for better

But I got this broken habit I keep gluing back together

The fever, the fire, the feathers

The fever defies measure

And good sense won’t venture where the moth will go

If you’re asking

I can’t say no

Just one more chapter

Our book won’t close

And I know it’s madness

To play these odds

It’s like giving matches

To paper, to paper dolls

Just like, just like…

Just like, just like…

Just like giving matches to paper dolls

Just like, just like…

Just like, just like…

Just like giving matches to paper dolls

If you’re asking

I can’t say no

Just one more chapter

Our book won’t close

And I know it’s madness

To play these odds

It’s like giving matches

To paper, to paper dolls

I love the way you lie

RIHANNA FT. EMINMEN – LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE (PART 2) from Nathalie Pijls on Vimeo.

Rihanna:

On the first page of our story

The future seemed so bright

Then this thing turned out so evil

I don’t know why I’m still surprised

Even angels have their wicked schemes

And you take that to new extremes

But you’ll always be my hero

Even though you’ve lost your mind

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry

But that’s all right because I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie, oh, I love the way you lie

Now there’s gravel in our voices

Glass is shattered from the fight

In this tug of war you’ll always win

Even when I’m right

‘Cause you feed me fables from your head

With violent words and empty threats

And it’s sick that all these battles

Are what keeps me satisfied

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry

But that’s all right because I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie, oh, I love the way you lie, oh

So maybe I’m a masochist

I try to run but I don’t wanna ever leave

‘Til the walls are goin’ up

In smoke with all our memories

Eminem:

This morning, you wake, a sun ray hits your face

Smeared makeup as we lay in the wake of destruction

Hush baby, speak softly, tell me I’ll be sorry

That you pushed me into the coffee table last night

So I can push you off me

Try and touch me so I can scream at you not to touch me

Run out the room and I’ll follow you like a lost puppy

Baby, without you, I’m nothing, I’m so lost, hug me

Then tell me how ugly I am, but that you’ll always love me

Then after that, shove me, in the aftermath of the

Destructive path that we’re on, two psychopaths but we

Know that no matter how many knives we put in each other’s backs

That we’ll have each others backs ’cause we’re that lucky

Together, we move mountains, let’s not make mountains out of molehills

You hit me twice, yeah, but who’s countin’?

I may have hit you three times, I’m startin’ to lose count

But together, we’ll live forever, we found the youth fountain

Our love is crazy, we’re nuts but I refused counselin’

This house is too huge, if you move out I’ll burn all two thousand

Square feet of it to the ground, ain’t shit you can do about it

‘Cuz with you I’m in my fuckin’ mind, without you, I’m out it

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry

But that’s all right because I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie, I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie, I love the way you lie

Don’t know why I’m always letting you in

You got my heart on a string
You want me back again and you know I’ll do anything
Just when I thought I was free
Knock knock the door is locked but you still got a key
All too familiar the moment it shows up
Now everything I know says to fly

My oh my you’re getting under my skin
Don’t know why I’m always letting you in
Just when I got my life together again
Here you are standing there tell me why I should try
My oh my … my oh my … my oh my … my oh my

You got me under a spell
You look like heaven oh but you put me through hell
God knows there’s nothing to gain
Oh who am I to deny we’re both playin’ the same game
All too familiar the moment it blows up
Now everything I know says to fly

My oh my you’re getting under my skin
Don’t know why I’m always letting you in
Just when I got my life together again
Here you are standing there tell me why I should try
My oh my … my oh my … my oh my … my oh my

And I know that you’re no good for me
And it makes no sense at all
Still I keep coming back for more
Cause I’m addicted to your call

I know you ain’t no good for me
And all the lies and the lines you fed to me
The way you kept coming back for me
Like the last breath left of the air I need
I know you ain’t no good for me
And all the lies and the lines you fed to me
The way you kept coming back for me
Like the last breath left of the air I need

My oh my you’re getting under my skin
Don’t know why I’m always letting you in
Just when I got my life together again
Here you are standing there tell me why I should try
My oh my … my oh my … my oh my … my oh my
My oh my … my oh my … my oh my … my oh my
My oh my
I know you ain’t no good for me
And all the lies and the lines you fed to me

Baby when it’s love if it ain’t rough it isn’t fun

I wanna hold em like they do in Texas plays
Fold em let em hit me raise it baby stay with me
Love the game, intuition, play the cards with Spades to start
And after he’s been hooked I’ll play the one that’s on his heart

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
I’ll get him hot, and show him what I’ve got
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
I’ll get him hot, and show him what I’ve got

Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
She’s got to love nobody
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
She’s got to love nobody

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face

I wanna roll with him, a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it’s love if it ain’t rough it isn’t fun

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I got
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I got

Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
She’s got to love nobody
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
She’s got to love nobody

I won’t tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
‘Cause I’m bluffin’ with my muffin
I’m not lyin’ I’m just stunnin’ with my love-glue-gunning

Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, I promise this
Check this hand ’cause I am marvelous

I’m marvelous
I’m marvelous
I’m marvelous
So marvelous
She’s got to love nobody
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
She’s got to love nobody

Fill my soul with vomit then ask me for a piece of gum

Love me cancerously, like a salt-sore soaked in the sea.
“High maintenance” means you’re a gluttonous queen,
narcissistic and mean.
Kill me romantically, fill my soul with vomit
then ask me for a piece of gum.
Bitter and dumb, you’re my sugarplum
you’re awful, I love you…

[Chorus]
She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
and when her edges soften, her body is my coffin.
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed…
must be the sign on my head, it says,
“Oh love me dead!” Love me dead

You’re a faith-healer on tv
You’re an office park without any trees
corporate and cold, gushing for gold-
Leave me alone.
You suck so passionately
You’re a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
finger-bangin’ my heart.
You call me up drunk, does the fun ever start?
You’re hideous…and sexy!

[Repeat Chorus]

Love me cancerously
Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da! Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da!
How’s your new boy? Does he know about me?
You’ve got the mark of the beast.
You’re born of a jackal! You’re beautiful!

[Repeat Chorus]

Wha’ ’bout this sign on my head?
It says “Oh love me dead!”
Love me dead! Love me dead! Love me dead!
Oh…love me dead!

They made a statue of us

This was always the best song for “An Eternity in Cheese Country.” LOL

Us by Regina Spektor

They made a statue of us
And put it on a mountain top
Now tourists come and stare at us
Blow bubbles with their gum
Take photographs have fun, have fun

They’ll name a city after us
And later say it’s all our fault
Then they’ll give us a talking to
Then they’ll give us a talking to
Because they’ve got years of experience
We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We’re living in a den of thieves
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious

We wear our scarves just like a noose
But not ’cause we want eternal sleep
And though our parts are slightly used
New ones are slave labor you can keep

We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We’re living in a den of thieves
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
The tourists come and stare at us
The sculptor’s marble sends regards
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
Our noses have begun to rust
We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We’re living in a den of thieves

And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious

Simple Math

So, I was creepily stalking the Mad Queen tag on Tumblr, and found someone posting all their Swan Queen song whatevers, and they put a little note and added that this was, if they thought about it, an appropriate song for Mad Queen.

Now, the idea of having a playlist, and not just music for fanvids, was a concept I discovered long, long ago. It’s how I discovered the band Our Lady Peace, in fact, and Abandoned Pools, and a few other people. (Abandoned Pools vanished but Our Lady Peace is pretty well known.) They weren’t from fanvids, however, since, back then, there was no practical way to upload them unless you had your own server space. Also, you had to download them, since we didn’t have streaming video back then!

So they were just playlists, like this person on Tumblr posted. Songs to consider – and not to use in frikin songfics, which are the worst; I use song lyrics as titles or drop a line or two and anything more is obnoxious – when listening, that remind you of a story. Which is kinda dumb but also understandable. I have songs I associate with ex-boyfriends, my mom, and times in my life. We all do. I have mixes I particularly like, and people will compose playlists of songs they like to run/jog to, or whatever. Personalize their own albums, which is something we began doing who-knows-when, as a culture.

So that’s a longwinded way of saying that I, for example, consider an Andrew/Warren song to be “Waited,” by Our Lady Peace, or “Sell My Soul,” and Veronica, from my stories, has the songs “Blood” by Abandoned Pools or “Fortunate” by Common Rotation, to recall some very, very old ones of mine. “Your Hand in Mine,” an instrumental piece by Explosions in the Sky, will always remind me of my ex-boyfriend, The Englishman, and “Hurt” by Christina Aguilera reminds me of my late mother.

So anyway, in a bit of fun, someone on Tumblr picked this for Jefferson and Regina.

Last post about them, I swear. Probably. Maybe.

Hunter eyes
I’m lost and hardly noticed, slight goodbye
I want to rip your lips off in my mouth
And even in my greatest moment doubt
The line between deceit and right now

Simple math, it’s how our bodies even got here
Sinful math, the ebb and flow to multiply
What if I was wrong and no one cared to mention
What if it was true and all we thought was right was wrong?
Simple math, the truth cannot be fractioned
Either way…

I imply to mitigate the guilt, we could align
A perfectly constructed alibi
To hush the violent guilt that eats and never dies
In actual blame, they call me once the dark divides

Simple math, it’s why our bodies even lay here
Sinful math, the truth cannot be fashioned
What if you were crazy, would we have to listen then?

What if we’ve been trying to get to where we’ve always been?
What if I was wrong, and started trying to fix it?
What if you believed me? Everything is brilliant

Oh, oh, oh

What if I’ve been trying to get to where I’ve always been?
What if we’ve been trying to get to where we’ve always been?
Simple math, believe me, all is brilliant
What if we’ve been trying to kill the noise and silence?

What if I was wrong and you had never questioned it?
What if it was true, that all we thought was right, was wrong?
Simple math, the truth cannot be fractioned
I imply I’ve got to get it back then

Oh, oh, oh
